This probably applies to a lot of Italian cities, to be honest, but one of my favorite things is to walk down a narrow street and spot a fantastic building at the end. Graffiti and posters on each side of you and straight ahead, a rather grand building. And are those papal symbols I see on it with the triple crown and keys?

Agreed. The beauty is in the details which sometimes the locals forget even exist. I’ve often had my Italian friends tell me that they love the little things I notice that they either have forgotten or become desensitized to. I don’t know if I could ever get tired of it!

With my old Utrecht blog, I regularly had locals who commented that they’d never really noticed some elements or didn’t know the history behind a place. Sometimes it helps to see a place through a fresh pair of eyes and it’s fun, as a blogger, to be that pair of eyes.

I am definitely guilty of thanking for granted many beauties of Bologna, my hometown.
